Inspired by some of the clay modelling done by Lucio Fontana on the subject of Christ, and the way the figures emerge or are embedded in the clay, I connected with the idea of being similarly embedded in or emerging from a deep well of feeling. The vulnerability of bringing into the light that which has been hidden is paradoxically the very thing that generates strength.
In this work, I examine the idea of moving through suffering to find a spirit of resilience .
